PRIORITIES
I have 3 focus areas right now, for this campaign and the next four years:

HOUSING.
All things housing. Affordable, accessible, equitable, preservation, protection, zoning, production, and increasingly elusive home ownership. Every issue our city faces can be tied back to a housing issue. I currently chair both our local and 4-county housing boards and have for 4 years. We produced, partnered, and funded 1500 affordable homes in my first term, using every tool in the toolbox and making new ones. We need thousands more and I can help.

COMMUNITY SAFETY.
This can mean different things to different people. I am focused on first responders, including police, fire, community responders, underlying causes of crime, and alternative responses. In my first term, we moved first responders' starting wages from below $30,000 a year to $50,000 in 2024 and expanded recruitment policies and incentives. Community safety also includes climate change mitigation and preparation.

BASIC CITY SERVICES AND INFRASTRUCTURE.
I want to ensure we are upholding our most basic responsibilities of caring for our city, its infrastructure, and its residents. From water systems to software systems, sidewalks to potholes, and parks, schools, greenways, recycling, and more. We have decades of deferred maintenance to address. In my first term, we planned massive capital improvements, from swimming pools to public safety facilities to streets and parks and stormwater. And we established a decades-long plan for more work.
